Treachery, betrayal, and wild waters describe this year’s movie Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. The movie begins with Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) teaming up with Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) in a desperate quest to free Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from Davy Jones’s locker. The ghost ship the Flying Dutchman which is wreaking havoc across the sea is now under the control of the villainous Lord Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander). In order to stop the Flying Dutchman the Black Pearl heads out to find the nine Pirate Lords. They forge their way to Singapore where they meet Pirate Lord Captain Sao Feng (Chow Yun Fat), who upon aggressive negotiations agrees to join them in their battle against the Flying Dutchman and the Armada. Now headed towards the final battle each one must ultimately choose a side.
The stunts and special effects in this movie created one of the most impressive blends of live action work and CGI ever put to film. The gathering of the different pirates was exciting and the battles that took place on the sea where first-rate.
