Sword fights, a sea monster, pirates, and a treasure chest that holds something valuable, describes this years blockbuster movie Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man’s Chest. The scene opens with Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) breaking out of a coffin in the ocean and heading back to the Black Pearl. Upon returning to the Black Pearl Jack reveals to his crew that he has obtained a piece of parchment with a key drawn on it, the crew is not to happy. You find out that Jack owes Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) a life debt and that he has come to collect. Jack needs to find the key on the parchment or the chest that it opens in order to settle his debt with Davy Jones. As usual with Jacks problems Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) are caught in the middle. Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann are arrested for helping Jack and the new Commodore wants to see them hang for it. They both escape separately of course and end up searching for Jack. Will ends up on Davy Jones ship The Flying Dutchman where he meets his father Bootstrap Bill Turner (Stellan Skarsgard). Escaping with the key Will sets out to find Jack and Elizabeth, who are on a beach trying to find the chest of Davy Jones. The contents of the chest are removed and believed to be on the Black Pearl, where as the chest ends up on Davy Jones’s ship, upon which the Black Pearl and its crew is attacked by a giant sea monster and the ship meets it’s fate.

The special effects were remarkable, especially with the giant sea monster. There was a lot of laughter and gasps accompanying this movie. Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Bill Nighy and many others portrayed their characters brilliantly.

Arrgh…I give this swashbuckling movie 5 bottles of RUM!!!
