Fairytale meets real life in the brilliant animated movie Enchanted. The movie follows beautiful princess Giselle (Amy Adams) as she is banished from her magical musical animated land by the evil queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon), who doesn’t want Giselle marrying her son, to the real life gritty rough streets of New York. Prince Edward (James Marsden) hears what has happened to Giselle and leaves his animated land to find his princess. Giselle, meanwhile, is trying to navigate through this chaotic land that does not deal in “happily ever after” and is badly in need of enchantment. Here she meets and begins to fall in love with charmingly flawed divorce lawyer Robert Philip (Patrick Dempsey), who came to her aid. The evil queen Narissa fears her plan won’t work, so off to the Big Apple she heads to find Giselle and finish her off once and for all.
The animated CGI part of the film was fantastic as well as the real life shots of Times Square. Amy Adams portrays her character splendidly; her every step seems to echo “Snow White”, “Sleeping Beauty”, and so on… she never overdoes the earnestness of her role. James Marsden, Susan Sarandon, Patrick Dempsey and many others do a marvelous job in colliding fantasy with reality.
